St. Patrick’s Day
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Bishop Fernandes has granted to the faithful of the Diocese of Columbus, as well as to any visitors or travelers who may be physically present within the territory of this diocese, a dispensation from the obligation of abstinence from meat on March 17, 2023, provided that the member of the faithful taking advantage of this dispensation, undertakes one of the following works: 1) makes a pilgrimage or visit to any church in the Diocese of Columbus named in honor of St. Patrick (Columbus, London, Junction City); 2) assists at Mass at any church, chapel, or oratory on March 17th; 3) prays the “Breastplate of St. Patrick,” attributed to St. Patrick; 4) engages in some pious devotion such as the Rosary, the Stations of the Cross, or Eucharistic Adoration; or 5) performs an act of comparable penance (such as abstinence from meat) on some other occasion during the Third Week of Lent.

Knights of Columbus Fish Fry
Mark your calendars for Friday’s during Lent to support our Knights of Columbus Fish Fry! This year we will continue to offer both dine in and drive thru options serving the fantastic fish dinner we have all come to know and love. Fish Dinners will be $13, and Macaroni & Cheese Dinners will be $11. All dinners will include a roll, fries and choice of applesauce or coleslaw. Hours are 5:00pm - 7:30pm. We hope to see you there!
Stations of the Cross
Join us each Friday during Lent for Stations of the Cross in the church. Stations will begin at 7:30pm with confessions available afterwards at 8:15pm each week. All are welcome to join us!
Parish Penance Service
Join us this Lent for a Penance Service on Tuesday, March 21st at 7:00pm. Has it been a while since you’ve been to confession? God is rich in mercy and ready to meet you in the sacrament of Reconciliation. St Thomas Aquinas said, “In the life of the body a man is sometimes sick, and unless he takes medicine, he will die. Even so in the spiritual life a man is sick on account of sin. For that reason, he needs medicine so that he may be restored to health; and this grace is bestowed in the Sacrament of Penance.” Links are available below with information on making an Examination of Conscience as well as a video from Father Mike Schmitz with a short talk on making a good Confession.
Women’s Faith & Fellowship Lenten Outreach
Our St. Michael Family Can Help New Families! Looking for a way to share God’s love this Lenten season? St. Michael’s Women’s Faith and Fellowship group has a special opportunity to support new families choosing life! The Women’s Care Center is a local organization providing support and free resources to pregnant women and expectant fathers. Donations can be placed in the marked bin in Marian Hall. All donations will be delivered after Easter. Anyone interested in helping with delivery and touring the Women’s Care Center is welcome to contact us at womensgroup@saintmichael-cd.org for details. Requested new or gently used donations include:

Men’s Faith & Fellowship
Saturday, March 18th --The Carrying of the Cross is this week's focus in the Sorrowful Mysteries as we continue to rediscover the power of the rosary this Lent. We meditate on how Jesus took our sins on his shoulders which were greatly wounded. Learn from Jesus how to bear your crosses that were given especially to you. We meet at 6:45am in the Upper Meeting Room for the rosary for our families, for our parish and for vocations. Then we have the presentation and discussion. We wrap up by 8am so that you can attend Saturday Mass. All men are welcome to join us any week. Build up your faith by praying with your brothers in faith! Join our Pietra Classes! A Lenten Pietra Class will be offered on Wednesday, March 22 at 7:00pm. Meeting each week on Saturday mornings at 7:00am, Pietra is a whole-person fitness class that stretches and strengthens the body while refreshing the soul with prayer and meditation. Knights of Columbus Community Breakfast
Join us on Sunday, April 16th after the 8:30am & 10:30am Masses for a Community Breakfast hosted by the Knights of Columbus! Come enjoy good food & fellowship. "Rise Up Now!" and make our Parish grounds more beautiful! The Garden Group is looking for seasonal volunteers to help maintain the grounds at St. Michael. Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl
During Lent, we are called to give special attention to our relationship with God. Through opportunities to deepen our prayer, practice fasting and give alms, we meet our Lord and encounter our sisters and brothers around the world. Donate to CRS Rice Bowl to help communities in Honduras, the Philippines, Kenya and other countries overcome hunger and malnutrition, poverty and the impacts of climate change. Your almsgiving will make a difference for families trying to escape poverty and thrive. Rice Bowls are available in Marian Hall or by stopping by the Parish Office. Donations can be placed in the offertory basket during Mass or dropped off at the parish office. Each Rice Bowl contains a Lenten Calendar with ways your family can bring Lent to life. Mass Intentions
Daily and Sunday Mass intentions are currently available to schedule through August 2023. If you would like to remember a loved one in this way, please visit the parish office to schedule or call for more information. One should never forget the infinite graces that flow from the Sacrifice of the Mass which benefit one’s soul, both for the living and the deceased.
Homebound Ministry
St. Michael homebound ministry is available to bring the Eucharist to the homebound. If you or a loved one within St. Michael parish boundaries would like someone to bring the Eucharist to you, please reach out to Sr. Riya Mary to coordinate. Help us grow our Adoration Chapel by signing up to make a commitment to adore. You will find it quickly becomes the best part of your week. Our Adoration Chapel offers Eucharistic Exposition on both Thursdays & Fridays. Our current exposition hours are from 7:00am Thursday morning thru 6:00am Friday morning, resuming at 9:00am Friday morning until 9:00pm Friday evening. Adoration is available at all other times with the Blessed Sacrament reposed in the tabernacle. Signing up is easy to do from your phone or computer. Maria Stein Shrine Tenebrae Service
April 5th, 7:30pm in the Adoration Chapel: The word ‘tenebrae’ is Latin for shadows. The purpose of the Tenebrae service is to meditate deeply on the passion story. Christ’s betrayal, abandonment, and agony are felt deeply in this prayer. However, we are left remembering that the story is not over, and that Christ will fulfill His mission in three days’ time.Fr. John Tonkin will lead us as we reflect on scripture passages and hymns sung by the St. Peter Church Choir of Fort Recovery. The shadows will grow around us as candles are extinguished.
